Eugene Gilyard spent over fifteen years in prison for a murder he didn't commit, before the Pennsylvania Innocence Project helped get his conviction overturned. He and his wife Najwa opened Freedom Coffee House on Old York Road not long after, and honestly, the site's job was mostly to get out of the way and let that story do the talking.
We built a full menu system (hot and cold drinks, teas, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, all easy to update as the board changes) alongside an "Our Story" section that lays out what happened to Eugene without turning it into a sales pitch. It didn't need one. The shop's already been covered by CBS Philadelphia, 6ABC, and Patch, and we made sure that coverage was visible right on the homepage instead of buried somewhere out of sight.
